Mini Design System for Mimmit koodaa brand – a collaboration between designers and developers
A design system provides a shared set of design guidelines and elements that enable teams to work more efficiently, facilitating collaboration between designers and developers and ensuring quality throughout the product life cycle.
The workshop simulates the way designers and developers work in projects where a design system is in use. It provides a realistic insight into the collaboration between design and development. By building design and code components together, groups create a mini design system.
You will learn to create a modular design in Figma and/or implement UI components with Storybook. For example, these new skills can be used in client projects where a design system is being used or developed.
Who this workshop is for?
This workshop is suitable for beginner-level designers and developers who approach aspects of design systems through teamwork, such as collaboration, consistency, accessibility, and efficiency. Participants will be collaborating in small groups.
The instructors will be happy to help you out with any problems.
What to know before joining?
This workshop is suitable for beginner-level designers and developers. When registering, you need to specify whether you want to participate as a developer or designer. As a designer, you will use Figma, and as a developer, you will use TypeScript.
Designers need to have a Figma, a trial version is sufficient. The provided fonts need to be downloaded. Test that you can open the files and edit them.
Developers need to have a beginner-level understanding of TypeScript, Node (version 18+), git installed, and the Storybook repository cloned to their machine. Test that you can start the program using the instructions in the README. Use the editor of your choice. Test that you can open the files and edit them.
Some food and drinks are provided to attendees. Remember to bring your own laptop with the prework done!
NOTE! The registration is binding. If you cannot attend the event, consider others and remember to cancel your participation as soon as possible. This will prevent: you won’t be added to the blacklist, we avoid food waste, we avoid extra costs and allow someone else to take your place at the event. With that we can make events also in the future.
