Farhana Fayez encourages women to ask boldly for opportunities without insecurities. If you don’t ask, you can’t receive.
Farhana Fayez works as Business Development Manager for TietoEVRY’s SAP on Public Cloud offering. She helps customers accelerate their business transformation journey with the most critical workloads on Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform to build a business-centric intelligent enterprise. Fayez is a certified MS Azure & SAP S4/HANA cloud professional with half a decade of experience in the software and consulting business.
“All through school years, I have been focused on STEM, but not necessarily in IT as I initially focused on natural sciences. I got into the space of data engineering while steering towards software development, and now to the world of SAP and Public Cloud,”
Fayez sums up her journey into the IT-field. Fayez feels content that public cloud being an enabler to digital transformation, we can digitize societal core functionalities, whether it is public transportation, or pharmaceuticals, or retail etc.
“I feel inspired when these efforts result in improved quality of life,” she smiles.
Together we know better than alone
For her future, Fayez has plans on becoming an industry expert and a thought leader, who is able to drive sustainable innovative projects that create an impact as we go beyond industry 4.0 and inspire others to be on this mission, too. For her younger self she would say ‘Just keep going and trying new things’.
“In today’s world, careers are not set in stone. Your major or educational background are not the only things that define you. We are free to evolve, and all the gradual efforts will be worth it.”
The world of technology is vast. The fear of not fitting in and not knowing enough was a common theme for Fayez. She says that the truth is nobody knows it all. That is where the power of collaboration and diversity comes into play.
Diversity should be everyone’s agenda
For women in the IT-field or considering a career in technology, Fayez encourages them to use their background to their advantage. Women should stop questioning if they can do it or not, and just start doing it, and always ask for opportunities. If you don’t ask for them, you don’t get them.
“Find your niche, make it your differentiator. Every company is a technology company. Your unique background is your value proposition.”
She is happy to be part of Mimmit koodaa-project because diversity and inclusion should be on everyone’s agenda.
“Women are under-represented in tech. Therefore, I am always happy to see men driving initiatives to bring equal opportunities to both women and men.”
