Mimmit koodaa program is aimed at women, and this event is intended for women only. Our goal is to provide a safe and encouraging environment for women in the technology sector and those who want to enter the field.
Mentoring that changes careers
Most career advice you get is too generic to act on. Good mentoring is different, and it’s not the same as coaching or teaching.
This talk covers how to find mentors outside formal programs (peer, next-level, reverse) and how to mentor others well: spotting potential people miss, sharing experience directly, and knowing when someone needs a mentor versus a coach. Real stories from both sides, concrete next steps.
The event is suitable from beginners to IT industry veterans. You can join if you’re comfortable enough with English and open to sharing your own mentoring stories if you’d like.
Key takeaways
- Recognize the difference between mentoring, coaching, sponsoring, and teaching and know when each is needed.
- Find mentors who genuinely invest in your growth, not ones checking boxes.
- Mentor effectively by sharing lived experience directly, not hiding behind coaching questions.
This is a practice run of Lenni’s Lead Dev London talk in June. The end of session will include open discussion, questions, and your own mentoring stories.
Note: This webinar will not be recorded, so everything will be experienced in the moment.
